Recently, there has been former Ohio state Rep. The same idea emerges every time: The hypothesis is that their bigotry doesn’t just make their sexual behavior hypocritical, it actually functions as a cover for it, consciously or otherwise. There have been actual examples this year of outspoken anti-LGBT figures exhibiting behavior that seems to contradict their political ideology. Never mind the long-running jokes and memes about Mike Pence covering up some secret homosexual identity. Photo Illustration by The Daily BeastĢ017 has been a banner year for the armchair psychological theory that anti-gay public figures are secretly gay themselves. But while the notion feeds many jokes, it also obscures very real homophobia. To know that there’s a whole community and that they’re celebrating people like us.There is some research suggesting a link between being closeted and being anti-gay. So we continue our little chat and I kept thinking that he may never have to experience that, so he may never understood that but, we don’t stop being scared, we learn to live with it.īeing openly gay/bi/lesbian/pan/ace/aro is learning to live with the feeling that you can’t tell you’re dating life to everybody.īeing openly transgender men or women or non binary is learning to live with the feeling of fear when you have to show a piece of identity and you haven’t transition legally.īeing LGBT+ is learning to live with being scared all the time. I mean, as a person with a uterus, a person of colour, a "gay” and probably not cis person, being outside is pretty scary.“

I know we’re lucky because we don’t have as much hate acts against minorities than in some other countries but still. So me and my friends were talking and I can’t remember how but we started to talk about being LGBTQ+ and one of my friends was telling me, the only one of colour and the only one being openly LGBTQ+ that we were in a pretty okay place in our country (I live in France) and I was like “Yeah sure…but it’s still pretty scary out there.

lgbtq lgbtqphobia lgbtq community love is love everyone is valid respect There’s enough hate in the world I don’t see why we have to stop people from going somewhere they feel welcomed and loved. It’s just causing harm for nothing except my own ridicule need to be right. If someone tells me about their sexuality and I don’t know it or don’t “believe” in it I won’t tell them it’s fake or wrong. They’re some identities I don’t fully understand and I don’t always agree with someone’s opinion about wether or not they are true but if someone tells me to use a certain pronoun, even if it’s not something I understand I try to use it because it makes them feel happy. I’m a pan enby and I see memes about how pan, Enbies and aro/ace are being discriminated by person from outside and inside our community! I totally get it, it’s hard to understand some identities but no matter what, the way someone identify themselves shouldn’t be a reason to insult them! We get enough hate from outside our community, we don’t need it inside, we don’t need to feel unsafe at pride which are for all of us. I don’t understand why Enbies feel hated by our community. I don’t understand how a lesbian can be told she’s not a lesbian because she’s dating a trans woman. I don’t understand how they are biphobic, panphobic or aphobic in our community. Like they are people who don’t feel welcome at pride because they are being told their identity is fake by queer people and I just don’t understand.

But lately I feel like we forgot about all of that with all the gatekeeping and stuff. So i was thinking about the LGBT community today and about how it’s a funded on love and acceptance.
